Freed.- Manford A., son of Joseph N. and Sarah (Davidhizar) Freed, was born in Locke Township on July 23, 1900; died at LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee, Ind., Mar. 28, 1987; aged 86 y. He was married to Emma Smeltzer, who died in 1929. On June 3, 1933, he married Bertha E. Hartman, who died on May 17, 1981. He is survived by 2 daughters (Evelyn Pletcher and Clara Rush), 2 sons (Everett and Keith), 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son (Marlin), 2 sisters (Dora Knowlton and Maude Hoffer), and a brother (Francis). He was a member of the Holdeman Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Mar. 31, in charge of Russell Krabill and Dave Dyck; interment was in Olive West Cemetery.

Manford A. Freed, 86, of SR19, Wakarusa, died at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee, where he had been a resident for four years.

Mr. Freed, who had been in ill health for the past ten years, was born in Locke Township on July 23, 1900, to Joseph and Sarah (Davidhizar) Freed. He was first married to Emma Smeltzer, who passed away in 1929. On June 3, 1933, he married Bertha E. Hartman. She died May 17, 1981. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Evelyn) Pletcher, Syracuse, and Mrs. Graham (Clara) Rush, of Torrence, Calif., two sons, Everett and Keith, both of Wakarusa, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Marlin, two sisters, Dora Knowlton and
Maude Hoffer, and one brother, Francis.
In addition to farming, Mr. Freed was a machinist and plumber, formerly employed by Lechlitner Plumbing and Heating of Wakarusa. The deceased was a member of Holdeman Mennonite Church.
Pastor Russell Krabill of Holdeman Mennonite Church, and pastor Dave Dyck, from the Wakarusa Missionary Church, conducted funeral services Tuesday morning at Holdeman Mennonite Church. Burial was in Olive West Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holdeman Mennonite Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by Lienhart Funeral Home.
