Civil War Veteran: Company A, 2nd Cavalry Regiment Nebraska,
23 Oct 1862 - 23 Dec 1863.

Levi Baker was born in April 1836 in Bangor, Maine, and came west about 1860 to settle in Fremont, Nebraska. He served during the Civil War with Co. A, 2nd Nebraska Cavalry. Levi Baker was married twice. To the first marriage were born Clyde E. Baker in December 1857, in Wisconsin, Hiram Franklin Baker, who was born in May 1868. The family later moved to Sidney, Nebraska (Also on the Platte River), and then to Hot Springs, South Dakota, where Mrs. Baker died in 1880. Levi Baker then moved from the Black Hills area to Ketchum, Idaho. About this time, he married Ada Walker. She was born October 3, 1853, at Carrollton, Missouri, and died at Plains on March 24, 1922. To this marriage were born two sons, Walter and Thomas, and a daughter, Ada. About 1888, Levi Baker and family moved to Plains where his three older sons were. Levi died March 1, 1903, at sixty-six years of age.
