Sophia Jane was born to Sardius and Mary Baldwin nee McDowell she married Wesley Van Buren Harryman on May 22, 1862 in Benton Co. Mo by the hand of her Uncle William Baldwin.
She and Wesley raised 9 children: James Andrew, Henry H. Charles O. Martha Ann Olive, Hanner Rose Ellen, Mahulda Susan, George Oliver E.L. Lauretta Dove, and William Stephen. All lived to adulthood except Georgie who died at a year.
She died of Senility and was ill for many years, we now know this is Alzheimers Disease. It never diminished her love for Christ Jesus her Lord and Savior. Her Bible was her constant companion. She was a Natural Nurse and a Mid Wife in her community. She loved her children and grandchildren she and Wesley helped raise their grandchildren when Martha died. She traveled to Texas several times to visit daughter Rose's family. She gave my mother {Mary Sophia} a feather bed for her 10th birthday. Later the bed was found in the old homestead and 4 pillows were made out of the bed. I have 2 of those pillows today.
Wesley and Sophia are buried in Old Anderson Cemetery, close by Lauretta Dove and William Stephen.
