The couple had five children: Kenneth George Maddox of Kalkaska, MI, Kevin Maddox of Lyons, MI, Jimmy Maddox of Fowler, MI, Betty (Maddox) Barnes of Lyons, MI and Lisa (Maddox) Limon of Hubbardston, MI. He was employed as a Turrer Lathe Operator before he entered the armed forces.
George W. Maddox Jr., entered the United States Army. He was inducted from Howell, MI on JUly 26, 1944. His Basic Traning was taken at Fort Sheridan, IL.
After basic traning was completed, George served with the 752nd Tank Battalion. He was sent overseas and participated in action against the enemy in the Po Valley Campaign.
He was awarded the European Theatre Ribbon w/1 Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Metal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was also presented with the first of its kind award the Distinguished Unit Badge, by Genearl Bolte.
