Daniel H. Bloms, 82, Minot, died Monday, August 30, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

Daniel was born April 27, 1928 on the family farm near Foxholm, ND to John and Margaret (Keller) Bloms. He was raised in that area and attended Muskego Township School. While growing up Daniel worked on the family farm.

On October 18, 1949 Daniel married Marise Brodis at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Following their marriage they made their home on the family farm near Foxholm, where they lived and farmed until they retired and moved to Minot.

While living in Minot you could find Daniel down at Bloms' Locker Plant, where he helped his son, Keith and it was there where he enjoyed visits with many of his friends. He still maintained his farming interests and enjoyed getting out on the combine and helping his son, Garold, or other family and friends with the harvest.

Daniel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm and he served on the Carpio School Board for a number of years. While living in Minot he was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Elks Lodge and Eagles Aerie.

Daniel loved his family and enjoyed following his grandchildren in their sporting events. He enjoyed visits with the many customers at the locker plant, where he made numerous friends. He was a wonderful man, who will be deeply missed.

Those who shared in his life, loving wife of 61 years, Marise, Minot; children, Keith (Jackie Sands) Bloms, Minot, Garold (Debra) Bloms, rural Foxholm, and Barbara Jo (Deral Ramsdell) Mehrer, Minot; grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Bormann, Ellen (Chris) Warner, Kenton (Dena) Bloms, Nathan (Amber) Bloms, Dena Bloms, Kelsey Jo Bloms and Kyle Mehrer; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Marlee Bormann, Beckett and Taeson Warner, Keaton and Owen Bloms and Bailey Bloms; brothers, Martin (Alice) Bloms, Grand Forks, ND and Clarence (Lorraine) Bloms, Mohall, ND; sisters, Bernice Redding and Rosella Bradley, both in Minot; sisters-in-law, Garnet Bloms, Carpio, Mary Bloms, Minot, and Marise's twin sister, Clarice Brey, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Bloms; brothers, Henry, Ralph and Fred Bloms; sisters, Marie Hensen, Helen Korgel and Margaret Savelkoul.

Funeral: Friday, September 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation will be Thursday, September 2, 2010, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
