Larry Alan Cochran went to Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona. In the Sunnyslope 1966 Valhalla Year Book he is listed as a Freshman.

He joined the United States Marine Corps and was a Private First Class. He is listed on the Viet Nam Wall on Panel 32W Line 011. His Tour Start Date was August 14, 1968. He was a Machine Gunner.

I remember standing at the Viet Nam Wall in 1985 looking at all those names and remembering the day I had heard about Larry being killed in action.

Larry hits home with me when I think about our high school years at Sunnyslope High; it was a time when young graduates thought of either going to college or joining the military and being sent to Viet Nam to fight for our country.

My brother, Paul, also joined the United States Marine Corps. He was injured on March 9, 1969 when the Marine in front of him stepped on a mine. Paul lost his leg and was hit with shrap metal throughout his body but I am happy to say he came home, married and had six children.

Paul passed away in 1992 due to pnenumonia at John C. Lincoln Hospital. He had lost his spleen in Viet Nam and penumonia was fatal.

Thank you Larry for defending our country with your life.
