Albert Wesley Hazen was the son of Samuel Albert Hazen and Emily Lanning. He was born in Franklin or Carroll County, IN.

As a young boy he traveled with his parents and younger brother in a covered wagon to Nebraska. The family appears in the 1880 & 1885 Census living in Leslie, Wayne, Nebraska. They lived there several years before moving to Cedarvale, Kansas.

In the last week of September 1893 the family made a run for land during the opening of the Cherokee Strip in what is now the state of Oklahoma.

Ponca City was their first destination before settling in Fairfax, Osage County where Albert worked with his father as a caprenter and helped to build some of the original homes in Fairfax.

Albert was a Spanish-American War veteran enlisting on 7 May 1904 in Ponca City, OK as a Private in Company D, 14th U. S. Infantry. He was medically discharge 6 May 1907 at Vancouver, WA due to colitis.

On 12 Sep 1918 in Ponca City, OK he registered for the WW-I Draft. On 7 Jun 1927 Albert was admittied to the U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Leavenworth, KS, also referred to as the old soldiers home.

Albert married Bertha A. Moritz 15 May 1907 in Fairfax, OK.

Bertha died in 1923 in Fairfax, OK.

On 28 August 1936 Albert married Elnora Russell in Caddo Gap, Montgomery, Arkansas who had a son named Lloyd Weeks from a previous relationship.

Caddo Gap (Arkansas): Bert Hazen and his wife Elnora were on their way to a Christmas party on Saturday night Dec. 22nd at six o'clock, and while attempting to cross the highway near his home, Mr. Hazen was struck by an approaching automobile, said to be driven by H. T. Ellis of Murfreesboro causing his immediate death.

Albert Hazen, 76, of Caddo Gap died December 22. He was born in Franklin County, Indiana, but had lived in Caddo Gap many years. He was a Spanish-American War vetreran. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. John T. Barr, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Caddo Gap, Wednesday. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. In chanrge was Davis Funeral Home. Mr Hazen died as a result of a car accident about 6:15 p.m. Saturday in Caddo Gap. Homer Elis, Murfreesboro, driver of the car which struck Hazen is on bond pending investigation by the authorities in Mt. Ida, according to Sheriff Tdwell.
