EDWARD A. BLUME, 70, of Decatur, died Wednesday,, Jan. 30, 2008, 1:50 p.m., at Adams Memorial Hospital , he had been in failing health. Born April 9, 1937, in Adams County, he was the son of the late Jesse D. Blume and Irene W. (Bloemker) Blume.
He retired from Navistar, Indianapolis after 50 years of service and had worked for International Harvester, Fort Wayne before moving to Indianapolis. He was a 1955 graduate of Monmouth High School. He was a member of the N.R.A. and Amateur Trap Shooting Association.
Surviving are his son, Michael A. Blume of Decatur; daughter, Sandra J. Allisbaugh of Fort Wayne; brother, Eugene "Gene" (Kris) Blume of Decatur; sister, Joan "Jo" (Charles) Fuhrman of Decatur; brother, Donald (Sandy) Blume of Decatur; sister, Dianne (Samuel) Ortiz of Decatur; and granddaughter, Samantha Blume of North Carolina. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Kaye Blume, in 1986; and two brothers, David J. Blume, in 2007 and Jesse D. Blume Jr., in 1996.
Service is 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Dr. Robert Brink officiating. Visitation also from 1 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial in Salem U.C.C. Cemetery, Magley. Preferred memorials to Adams County Community Foundation, Diabetes.
