Mrs. Lola Ellen Hancock Barker, 78, 1938 10th East (Salt Lake City, Utah), died Friday at 1:45 p.m. at her residence of a heart ailment.
She was born in Payson, Utah County, Sept. 14, 1868, a daughter of Isaac A. and Margaret Bingham Hancock. She was married to Jessie Lasarus Barker in Logan temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jan. 13, 1887. Mr. Barker died April 7, 1947.
An active member of the LDS church, Mrs. Barker was a member of Richards ward, where she served in the Relief society and was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Richards camp. She was active in charity work, particularly during the past two years.
Mrs. Barker's hobby was collecting poems. She gave readings of early pioneer stories she had committed to memory. Recently she mad a tour of southern Utah with church officials, giving readings in many LDS wards.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. H. Page, Mrs. Louis Altel, Mrs. T. C. Summers, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. C. V. Liljenquist, Tremonton, Box Elder county; two brothers, A. Hancock and S. Edward Hancock, Salt Lake City; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
