McWHIRTER, JR., William AllenAge 75 of Nashville, TN, passed away September 26, 2010. He was born in Nashville, TN on March 18, 1935 to the late William A., Sr. and Mary Edith McWhirter. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Edith McWhirter; sons, Ricky Bryan (Gayle) McWhirter, Jr., Mark Alan (Penny) McWhirter, Anthony Shane McWhirter; sister, Vallean McWhirter Hare; grandchildren, Rick Brian, Shana, Cassie; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Logan, Austin, Jaylyn and Annelise. He was preceded in death by, and in addition to his parents, a brother, Charles Edward McWhirter and a sister, Dorothy Curtis. Mr. McWhirter was a former Metro employee, and a vendor for NES for 41 years. He served with the 11th Airborne division, Baker Co. 511, where he was Staff Sgt and Senior Parachute Ranger and Pathfinder. He was also a member of the Clairborne Lodge #293 and a Master Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, and member of Al Menah Shriner's Temple. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 10 a.m., at Spring Hill Funeral Home, with Bro. Ernest Standerfer officiating. Interment will follow in historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
