J. P. Boyer passed away Tuesday evening 26 May 1903 at 10:40. John P. Boyer was born August 6, 1828, in Springfield, Ohio. He came with his parents to Iowa when a child, remaining there until he grew to manhood. On October 28th 1852 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Murphy of Van Buren County, Iowa. There were born to them sixteen children, ten boys and six girls of which seven are living, a son and daughter in Washington and five sons here. They came to Fairplay in 1879 and have resided here since that time. Mr. Boyer was a hard working man and well thought of and had many friends in this community. Funeral services were held Friday May 29, 1903 at 2 o'clock pm.
