Teresa L. Mess, one of the original employees at Automatic Data Processing Inc. here, died Sunday (Dec. 19, 1993) at her home in St. Louis after a long battle with bone cancer. She was 59.

Mrs. Mess worked as a national accounts representative for Automatic Data Processing here. The company handles payroll accounts for companies. She began working for ADP in 1973 and was among the first 35 employees with the company. ADP now has more than 21,000 employees nationwide.

Mrs. Mess was a native of St. Louis and was active with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Her husband, John P. "Jack" Mess, was a longtime Catholic Youth Council soccer and baseball coach and founded the J.P. Mess Plumbing Co. He died in 1988.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4092 Blow Street. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Road in Affton.

Among the survivors are three daughters, Angela Duraski and Teresa I. Kamper, both of St. Louis, and Elizabeth Messel of Fenton; two sons, John P. Mess of St. Louis and James Mess of High Ridge; a sister, Mary Lovins of Dallas; three brothers, Patrick Smith, Robert Smith, both of Mehlville, and Richard Smith of St. Louis; and nine grandchildren.
