VALDOSTA — Richard I. (Pop) Aultman, 77, of Lake Park died on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept. 1, 1933, in Macon, Ga., to the late Robert Henry and Thelma Hudson Aultman. He retired from Robins Air Force Base as a transportation specialist with the Civil Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 182 and a Shriner. Mr. Aultman was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Park.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Nina) Aultman of Lake Park; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Bonnie Aultman of Seymour, Tenn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Harold Guess; and a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Diane Aultman, all of Lake Park; grandchildren, Kristi Guess, Stephen Guess, Nikki Howell and her husband Shane, Heather Aultman, Ashley Aultman, Brooke Aultman and Tyler Aultman; great-grandchildren, Mya Guess, Skyler Howell and Colton Howell; a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Walter Raleigh; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Aultman, all of Macon; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Aultman.

Service for Richard I. (Pop) Aultman will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, in the chapel of the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Carlton Allen officiating. The entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Hospice, 2517 Bemiss Road, Valdosta GA 31602 or the Calvary Baptist Church Missions Fund.
