JANESVILLE--- Edward A. Topel Jr., age 77, of Janesville, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Renowned Regional Medical Center, Reno, NV. He was born in Lake Mills on September 28, 1932, the son of Edward and Henrietta (Bartz) Topel. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Shirley Frank on April 18, 1959, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Janesville. He worked for General Motors for 36 years until his retirement in 1990. Ed was a former member of St. Williams Catholic Church, Janesville and was a Scout Master. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, gardening, and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and listening to baseball on the radio. He is survived by his wife of 51 yrs, Shirley; 5 sons; James (Debra) Topel and Michael (Debran) Topel all of Janesville, Andrew (Kirsten) Topel of Columbia Falls, MT, Gregory Topel of Reno, NV, and Patrick Topel of Janesville; 7 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; a sister, Barbara Wild of Beaver Dam; and many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James Topel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville, with Fr. John Auby officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville.
