MRS. J. M. O’KELLEY DIED WEDNESDAY P.M.

The news of the death of Mrs J. Martin O'Kelley, Sr., in Newton County Hospital, Covington, Wednesday afternoon brought great shock and deep sorrow to the family and to all Social Circle. She had been ill with influenza the week before and was able to be up and around in her home, when she became quite sick with pleurisy and was carried by ambulance early Saturday, March 22nd, where she had improved and was expecting to be home in another day or two, when suddenly she became much worse on Wednesday, having suffered several attacks, presumed to be heart attacks, and her death occurred near three o'clock that
afternoon.

The body was brought here by the E. L. Almand Company, funeral directors, and prepared for burial.

Mrs. O'Kelley, the former Miss Mattie Towns, was born in Morgan County on September 28, 1890. Her parents were the
late William L. Towns and wife, the former Amanda Massey, who were later residents of Social Circle where they were prominently identified with our people in business, church, and civil interests. Mrs. O'Kelley's age was 67
years, five months, and twenty-eight days. She was a loyal member of the Mt.Paron Primitive Baptist Church, a lovely Christian woman of admirable personality who was known to be loved by a large family connection and by
everyone whose privilege it was to have known her during her beautiful life. Her devoted family has the deepest sympathy of many friends in their almost sudden
bereavement.

Largely attended and very impressive services were held at four o'clock Friday afternoon in the First Baptist Church of Social Circle. Eld W. L. Allen, Mt. Paron pastor, and the Rev C W. Howard, pastor of the First Baptist Church, were the officiating ministers. Favorite hymns were sung by the choir.

Pallbearers were nephews, Tillman Towns, Joseph Towns. Julius Isdal, Lewis Studdard, Hurst Laseter, Charlie Autrey, Marion Haralson, Mell Conner. The floral offerings, so many and beautiful, were silent tribute to this beloved lady and devoted family.

Interment followed in Circle View Cemetery with E.L. Almand Company in charge of arrangements.

Surviving her are her husband and their seven children, who are J. M. O'Kelley, Jr, Mrs. Lewis Clegg, Mrs. Emmett Clegg, George W. O'Kelley, all four of Social Circle; Mr. Robert O'Kelley, of Monroe: Mrs. Henry Grady Tate, Melbourne, Fla.; Mrs. Eddie Isaac, Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Fronie Isdal, of Savannah; Mrs. Leila
O'Kelley Monroe; three brothers, J. F. Towns, Cowarts, Ala.; J. M. Towns; Conyers; J. C. Towns, Loganville; thirteen grandchildren, and quite a number of nieces and nephews, who are tendered sincere sympathy in their sorrow.
