HAMILTON — J. Alfred Ogden of Hamilton went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010.

He was born March 23, 1922, the son of Rose and Arthur Ogden.

Alfred was a farmer his entire life and a graduate of Morrisville Agricultural and Technical Institute. He was a member of Willow Glen Rebekah Lodge No. 158 and a supporter of the Smithfield Fire Department, where he acted as cook for its chicken barbecues for many years.

He is survived by five children: Barbara (Murray) Kilts, Eugene (Donna) Ogden, Francis Ogden and significant other Ruth Abbott, Charles Ogden of Georgia and Constance (Orrin) Burns of Illinois; four grandchildren, Carl Hoyt, Victoria Burrows, Geneia Rood and Desiree Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. Alfred was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Erzilla, on Aug. 29, 1994 and a grandson, Elmer Lee Hoyt, on Aug. 30, 1976.

Graveside funeral services for J. Alfred Ogden of Hamilton will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Stockwell Cemetery. Following the cemetery service, there will be a gathering at the family home, Chamberlain Road, Hamilton, to celebrate Al's life from 1-3 p.m. All are welcome to attend. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. In memory of Al, kindly consider donations to either the Rebekah Assembly, I.O.O.F. in care of Barbara J.
