Alice Anna Evans Vickers Black (aka Granny Black) was born in Pike County, Alabama, and was the daughter of James Harrison Evans and Mahala Jane Enzor. She died at the home of her daughter, Alma Vickers Lovett in Sylacauga, Talladega County, Alabama.
She first married Albert Talley Vickers, son of Albert Young Vickers and Anna Elizabeth Maguire, on 26 October 1884, in Clay County, Alabama. They had eight children together: James Albert Vickers; Arrie Elizabeth Vickers Steadman; Maggie Lillerd Vickers Boyd; Alice Iola Vickers Gray; Cape Clinton Vickers; William Oscar Vickers; A. Alma Vickers Lovett; and Calvin Lorenzo "Renzo" Vickers. Talley died in 1903.
She married second, J. Samuel Black on 14 January 1909 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. They had one son, Leonard Pruett Black. Sam died in 1919.
She married last Samuel James "Bud" Clark on 28 August 1927 in Tallapoosa County, AL. He died less than a year later and she went back to the surname Black.
