OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) - October 1, 2010
Elva Smith, 85, of Wabash, went to be with her Lord at 4:37 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 at Marion General Hospital in Marion.

She was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Van Lear, Ky., to John Wesley and Tishie (Castle) Butcher.

Elva married Otis Webb in Paintsville, Ky., on March 14, 1942; he died Nov. 17, 1978. She then married Roy Smith in Wabash on Oct. 20, 1979. She worked at United Technologies in Wabash, 28 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Wabash Freewill Baptist Church and taught Sunday School 15 years. The church was her life.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Smith of Wabash; three sons, Cletus (Bonnie) Webb of Catlettsburg, Ky., Paul "Ray" (Virginia) Webb and Ricky (Rhonda) Webb, both of Wabash; step-son, James (Debbie) Smith of Wabash; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Betty Bruick of Wabash. She was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at Wabash Freewill Baptist Church, 1056 Erie Street, Wabash on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Hobert Meek and the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash and one hour prior to service Monday at the church. Preferred memorial is Wabash Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Elva Smith, 85, Wabash, were at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Wabash Freewill Baptist Church, Wabash. The Revs. Hobart Meeks and Tim Webb officiated. Musicians were Tim and Mary Webb, Ray Cooper, Jean Lucas and Donna Sisco. #Burial was in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Pallbearers were Mark Webb, Brad Webb, Tommy Smith, Jr. Smith, Aaron Smith and Tom Berry. Arrangements were by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
