"Miss Sally" Norman Dies at Age of 90

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Aston Norman, better known as "Miss Sally" Norman, died on Friday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 am, at the home of her daughter, Miss Margarette Norman, in Kosciusko, Miss., after several months' illness.

"Miss Sally" was born on April 7, 1872, and reared in the Wesley Chapel community. She was the daughter of James Thomas and Ann Rhodes Aston.

In 1892 she was married to James O Norman. To this union were born four sons and two daughters, one son of whom died in infancy.

She joined the Methodist Church in early childhood and remained a loyal member all of her life.

She is survived by three sons, David Festus, Corinth, Miss.; James Roye, Memphis, Tenn.; Leland Fleming, Houlka, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. R O Ray, Eupora, Miss.; and Miss Margarett Norman, Kosciusko, Miss.; three brothers, James Poston Aston, Lawton, Okla.; John M Aston, Benton, Ark.; Andrew C Aston, Latta, South Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pollard, Pauls Valley, Okla., and Mrs. Eva Meaders, Cordell Okla.; 13 grandchildren.

Leo R Norman, William D Norman and Thomas Norman, all of Corinth, Miss.; Lt. James G Norman, U S Air Force; James O Norman, Sulphur, La.; Mrs. George Herres, Covina, Calif.; Charles L Norman and Betty Sue Norman, Memphis, Tenn.; Leland B Norman and Wallace Norman, Houston, Miss.; Mrs. Charles Brannon, Wesson, Miss.; Mrs. Hubert Zachary, Memphis, Tenn.; Robert O Ray, Jr., Vicksburg, Miss. She also leaves a large number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were held in the Wesley Chapel Methodist church with Dr. J E Stephens officiating and Houston Funeral Home in charge. Interment was in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Her grandsons were her pallbearers.
