Emma Vedvig, daughter of Sever and Bella Vedvig, was born in Norway, November 26, 1873.
At the age of 16 years, she came with her parents to America and settled at Cyrus, Minn.
On April 9, 1894, she was married to Peter Thompson at Burtrum. For a short time the couple lived at Glenwood, later moving to a farm west of Swanville.
She was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church at Pillsbury until it disbanded several years ago.
After the death of her husband in October 1944, Mrs. Thompson had been living mostly with her children.
Surviving are four sons, Oscar of Burtrum, Sam of Kirkland, Wash., Theodore of St. Paul, and Cassel of Merrifield, Minn.; four daughters, Bertha (Mrs. Clifford Young), Great Falls, Mont.; Helen (Mrs. Al Lawson) Merrifield, Minn.; Ida (Mrs. Paul Zimmerman), Cyrus, Minn.; Josephine (Mrs. Harley Barber) Swanville; Ethel (Mrs. Walter Hoffman) Villard, Minn.; and Anna (Mrs. Palmer Rodine), Mora, Minn.; 28 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her only brother Jacob Vedvig, died in Missouri in 1951.
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in the Congregational church Rev. Norbert Weber, officiating.
Burial will be in the family lot in Moses Dame cemetery at Burtrum.
Serving as pallbearers will be six former neighbors, John Rosty, Barney Gerken, Ervin Mielke, Almer Zarns, Wm. Pfeiffer and Hobart Wildman.
