William and twin brother George were born to Charles and Christina Hook. William married Martha Alma Hearne of Lake Creek, Williamson, IL, 23 Mar 1902,in Robinson,Posey,IN. Of that union 5 children were born. Lillian Claire, 1903-1921, William Herbert,1905-1970,twins Phebe Grace,1908-1996 and Clarence Lee,1908-1982,were all born in Illinois and Charles Hearne,1919 to present was born in Washington. They lived for a while in East St Louis,St Clair,IL where William worked as a carpenter. They later moved to Crab Orchard, Williamson, IL. At the urging if Martha's brother,Stephen Hester Hearne, the family moved west to Manette, Kitsap County,WA around 1910. William continued to work the carpentry trade until he was hired at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Kitsap, WA and worked there until his retirement around 1940 at which time William and Martha moved to Centralia, Lewis, WA. They lived in the same house on Pearl street until their passing. William never owned or drove a car. They relied on close friends and neighbors to travel to and from church, otherwise William either walked or rode his bicycle around Centralia until his late 80's. He only stopped then because he suffered a broken hip after being struck by a car. They were active members of the Centralia Assembly of God Church where William served as a deacon for many years. After 62 years of marriage, Martha passed away in 1964 and William in 1973. They are buried side by side at Caluqato Cemetery in Chehalis, Lewis, WA.

William Andrew Hook and Martha Alma Hearne-Hook were my paternal grandparents.
