EMERY -- Alma Jane (Cummins), 91, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, one day shy of her 92nd Birthday, at the Manor Care Convalescent Hospital in Poway. Born Oct. 19, 1905, in Wishart, MO, she received her nurse's training at Burge Hospital in New York City. Mrs. Emery met her husband, Robert Buckman Emery of San Diego in New York in 1936 and they were married that same year in Walnut Grove, MO. Mrs. Emery worked as an OB/GYN RN in several hospitals in California, ending her career at Palomar Hospital in Escondido in 1967. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974. Mrs. Emery had been a Poway resident for 15 years and lived at the Poinsettia Mobile Home Park until moving to Manor Care in 1995. Alma Jane Emery is the mother of Poway City Councilman Robert C. Emery and of Joyce Cook of Littleton, Colorado. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Krysty and Kathleen Emery of Poway, Kim Bourett, Jana Briscoe and Kevin Broadhead, all of Colorado, and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Emery was a member of the Community Church of Poway and was active in many of the women's and Bible study groups. A Memorial Service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, November 8, in the historic chapel at the Community Church in Poway. The family suggests that m emorial donations in lieu of flowers, be sent to Mrs. Emery's favorite charity, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box, Amarillo, TX 79174.Edition: 1
