FORGY - On July 21, 1931, the useful earthly life of John C Forgy came serenely to a close. Brother Forgy was born on September 11, 1851, in the village of Forgyville, in Butler County, Kentucky, and spent his entire life in that community. He was twice married, first to Miss Elizabeth Askew in 1870, and next to Miss Lakie Penrod, who survives him, in 1893 He was the father of eleven children, seven of whom survive him. He is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. For many years Brother Forgy was a faithful member of the church of Christ and a minister of the gospel. As a preacher, he labored abundantly without hope of earthly reward, and probably baptized more people than any other man who ever labored in that section. The cause of Christ was ever first in his thoughts. He built up and held together the congregation in his home town, and it stands today as a worthy monument to his memory. Brother Forgy is gone from the earth, but long will he live in the grateful memory of the many he led to Christ and with whom he labored in the Master's vineyard Funeral services were conducted by Brethren J.E. Barbee, Roy C. Hyde, and the writer. after which his body was laid to rest in the cemetery near the house of worship of the church he loved so well. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." -Allen Phy.

[We regret the delay in publishing the above obituary, as well as some others among some other papers it was overlooked. In addition to the above statement by Brother Phy. Brother and Sister Skipworth sent in a splendid tribute to Brother Forgy, in which they speak of his faithfulness and success in preaching the gospel. --E.G.C.] --Gospel Advocate, March 17, 1932, 350-51.
