Taken from the Pontiac, IL "Daily Leader," Saturday, September 28, 1985:
The funeral for Earl L. Nolan, 70, 1308 Virginia Ave., Wood River, a former area resident, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Fairbury, with the Rev. George Hiland officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Odell.
Mr. Nolan was born Sept. 22, 1915, at Odell, a son of John P. and Elizabeth F. (Feehan) Nolan. He was employed by the A & P grocery store chain for 40 years, and was manager of the Wood River store for several years prior to retiring.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific. Mr. Nolan was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church at Wood River and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Moose Lodge.
Four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
