My Aunt Hazel was born at Catlett in 1915 and passed away at age 95 in 2010. For some years since she became unable to live alone, and since her late husband (Wm. F. "Bill" Croushorn) had died, she had lived with her oldest son, Clifton, of Bealeton neat Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Aunt Hazel had 5 grandchildren: Wayne and Jimmy; Steve and Jeff, and Sharon Croushorn Ward. A grandson, David Wm., predeceased her. There are 9 great-grandchildren as of 2010.

She was the daughter of James Lewis Brown of Catlett and Hattie Mae Jones Brown of Catlett.

For 64 years she was married to William Frederick Croushorn, my beloved uncle, who was born at Weyers Cave, Virginia in Augusta County, the second son of James Wm. Croushorn & Alice B. Swartz Croushorn.

Despite the infirmities of her final years, she was herself and she was always known for her kindness, goodness and hospitality. I spent many hours with my parents visiting her and my uncle at their home where it was warm and inviting. She was a wonderful hostess, mother, wife, and grandmother.
