"Barrios Libre was the scene of the killing of a woman of easy repute and the suicide of the man who killed her. The affair occurred at 1:30 this morning in a house adjoining the Red Light saloon on McCormick street. The man who did the killing was Horace B. Allen, a faro dealer at the Totem, who went to the rooms of Mollie Conard in answer to a summons. It is presumed the two quarreled, during which the man fired on the woman killing her instantly. He then turned the gun on himself, one shot entering the stomach, the other in the right temple. The bodies were found lying on a bed, both dead."
