~Floyd E. Gotham was born Sept. 2 1892 in Marengo township and passed from this life, Oct. 7 1909. His boyhood days were spent with his grandmother, Mrs. Frank McClow of Lee township. He leaves to mourn his death, his mother Mrs. Lizzie Burlingame, his grandmother Mrs F. McClow, one sister, Miss Grace Gotham, also three uncles, Mr. Delbert Albaugh of Lee township, and Mr. Chas. Albaugh of Jackson, Mich., and Mr. Amos Gotham of Los Angeles, Cal., also one aunt, Mrs. Hattie McGuire of Nebraska.

~The lad was of a happy disposition and well loved by all who knew him. Especially in the family circle he revealed constanly that brightness of life which endeared him to his people. Especially was he devoted to his grandmother and her home. He was ever ready and willing to do whatever was asked him.

~His school days were spent in the Rice Creek school and he was an attendant at Sunday school and church at Rice Creek.

~His sudden and untimely death came as a great shock to all the community.
