He grew up in Waldron, Ark., where he met and married Imogean Milligan in 1950. They settled in southeastern New Mexico, living in Oil Center, Jal, Carlsbad, and the Eunice area. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas.
He was survived by his wife; three sons, Larry Bentle of Hobbs, Joe Bob Bentle of Oil Center and Billy Bentle of Jal; three brothers, Lester and Chester Bentle of Ennis, TX, and Alvin Bentle of Kilgore, TX; and one sister, Molly Coy of Eunice.
