RE: Suggested Bio Text

• Son of George W. Izor (1823–1893) & Eliza[beth] Grubbs (1825–1896).
• Married Fannie E. Miller on December 24, 1885 in Darke County, OH.
• George and Fannie had one child, Herman Virgil Izor [Sr.] (1886–1960).

Birth Discrepancy Analysis:
• George Washington Izor:
- was interred next to his wife Fannie E. Izor¹,
- was the son of George W. Izor and Eliza Grubbs¹, and
- was 2 years old in the 1860 census, probably born in 1858².
• George's wife "Mrs. Fanny Izor" was the informant who provided birth date April 3, 1865 for George's death certificate¹, and was probably the person who ordered George's crypt marker with the 1865 birth year. Whether Fannie knew George's true birth year, or any motivation she might have had to provide the 1865 birth year, is not clear. (Of incidental note, if George had been born in 1865 he would not have been "of the age of 21" as he swore on his 1885 marriage license application³.)
• If the George born ~1858 had died and another child born to George and Eliza Grubbs in 1865 had been named George, then the ~1858 George would not have been alive to appear in the 1880 census as age 22 Washington Izor². If Washington was not George then Washington would have separately appeared as a 2 year old in the 1960 census.
• No other G. W. Izor³ born in 1865 has been found both as the son of a couple named George W. Izor and Eliza Grubbs, and as the husband of a Fannie (or Fanny) E. Miller.
• Therefore, although surprising, the 1865 birth year both on George's death certificate and on his crypt marker are wrong by about seven years.
________

¹ See the attached April 22, 1932 death certificate for "George W. Izor," with father "George W. Izor," mother "Eliza Grubbs," and wife "Fanny Izor." This rules out Fannie Izor as having been married to some other G W Izor³ born in 1865 whose parents were not named George & Eliza Izor.

² See the attached 1860 and 1880 census records. If George's birthday was late in the year, his age 2 and 22 would suggest birth in 1857, because George would have turned 3 and 23 later in each census year.

³ See the attached December 24, 1885 marriage record for George and Fannie. George is only identified as "G. W. Izor." The variant spelling "Fanny" on George's death certificate is not problematic because a "Fannie" married "G. W. Izor" and is interred next to "George W. Izor."
