Miguel "Mike" S. Gonzales, 83, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest October 3, 2010 at his residence. He was born February 2, 1927 to Jeremias Gonzales and Maria Inez Sedillos in Rincon, NM. Mike would love to go fishing with his friends and relatives. He loved to tell about his war experiences. He served his country with the Army during the Korean War. He is survived by four daughters, Sylvia Gonzales and companion Felipe "Sonny" Jauregui Jr. of Silver City; Sandra Gonzales of Hurley; Diana Gonzales of Bayard; Anissia Gonzales and companion George Valencia of Hurley; one sister, Maria Montoya of Tucson, AZ; mother of his children and close friend, Leticia Gonzales of Hurley; special granddaughter, Melissa Ponce; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Frankie Gonzales; one sister, Helen Madrid; one grandson, Timothy Montoya. Visitation will be Thursday, October 7th from 5-7pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the vigil service to begin at 7pm with Deacon Jerry Miller reciting the vigil service and holy rosary. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Friday, October 8th at 10am at Infant Jesus Catholic Church with Father Roberto Barreto officiating. The interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Michael and Julian Gonzales, Eric Arsola, Jerry Gonzales, Davy and Benny Montoya. Honorary pallbearers will be George Valencia, Felipe "Sonny" Jauregui, William Welcome, Kiki Hurtado, Joe Dominguez, Tony and Jimmy Gonzales.
