Daniel Glenn Jennings, 55, was born on November 17, 1954, to James E. Jennings and Irene Marie Cymbalisty Jennings of Oklahoma City. He had one sister, Deborah, and lifelong friendships with school mates and musicians. At Star Spencer High School, Dan nurtured his love of guitars and photography. Later he worked as a paramedic while he took university courses that reflected his interests in Native American history, anatomy and physiology, and the arts. For years he was a field agent for the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office. Later, he found his dream job: setting up sleep-disorder clinics around the world. He made a point of keeping in touch with his mother, who passed away in 1990 of complications from lupus. In 2000, botched abdominal surgery left Dan permanently disabled. He focused on his music, his photography, and many friendships. His medical struggles ended on September 10, 2010, when he died at home in Fredericksburg, Texas. Eighteen days later his father, Jim, died instantly in a car accident in California. Survivors include his sister, Deborah Shannon, and his niece, Libby Shannon, both of Portland, Oregon, and many cousins. The graveside memorial service for Dan and his father will be 2 p.m., Saturday, October 9, at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N. Midwest Blvd., Okla. City.
