Archie Steinbach was born in Williamsport, PA to John Steinbacher and Elizabeth (Ella) Ottenmiller. He was one of four sons born to the couple. His brothers were Walter Charles, Robert and Herbert Henry. Archie moved to Parish New York in early 1910 and opened a grocery store on the corner of Grant Blvd and Teal Avenue in Syracuse. He was very succesful until the stock market crash in 1929. He then went to work for Porter-Cable Machine Shop, retiring in 1953. Together he and his wife raised three children, John A (Jack), Arlene Frances and Jane Elizabeth (Betty).
