Roy's father Thomas Walter passed away when he was still a baby and his mother Sophia Walter remarried Alford Clinton " Clint" Walter who raised him as his own. Roy arrived in White Sulphur Springs on July 4th 1896 when he was 2 years old . His half brother Ben and sister Eva both left Montana and moved to California. Roy purchased the Newlan Creek Ranch on July 3rd 1923, raising money by selling his homestead on Butte Creek. Roy's desendants are still living on the original Newlan Creek Ranch Homestead to this day.
Roy's father Thomas is a cousin of Alford Clinton Walter. Thomas' father John H was William Carroll Walter's brother. William Carroll's son is Alford Clinton. James is Roy's uncle, not father. John Walter, is John H Walter , and William Carroll Walter's father.
