Roy arrived in White Sulphur Springs on July 4th 1896 when he was 2 years old . His half brother Ben and sister Eva both left Montana and moved to California. Roy purchased the Newlan Creek Ranch on July 3rd 1923, raising money by selling his homestead on Butte Creek. Roy's desendants are still living on the original Newlan Creek Ranch Homestead to this day.
