William Robert Rodgers, 75, died Saturday, Dec. 20 [2008] at his home in Jupiter.

Born in Chicago, he grew up on Chicago's north side and attended Lakeview High School and Northwestern University, Chicago campus.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in Germany occupations forces.

After the service he joined his father and brothers as a partner in J.F. Rodgers & Sons Real Estate Company in their Chicago office.

He married Althea M. Heffner in 1956 and they had two children, Tammi Lynn (Rodgers) Lowe and William Robert Rodgers.

In 1965 they moved from Chicago to Palm Beach County, FL. He worked in advertising at "Palm Beach Life" magazine for 13 years. He then joined the sales staff of Hillcrest and Palm Beach Memorial Cemeteries.

He also spent many years in sales for General Garage Door Company.

After moving to Jupiter, he worked for Riverside Memorial Park in sales and became manager of the cemetery. He served many years as secretary/treasurer of the Palm Point Property Association and then as president.

After retirement, Bill worked part-time as a bridge tender on the Jupiter Federal Bridge.

He was a 40 year member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2010 earning the Fellowcraft Degree.

He joined the Gardens Masonic Lodge in October 1998 and became a Master Mason. He also joined the York Right and in May 2000 he became a member of the Amara Shrine in Palm Beach Gardens.

Survivors include his wife of more than 52 years, Althea M. (Heffner) Rodgers; his daughter, Tammi L. Lowe and his son-in-law, husband, Robert N. Lowe, Jr.; his son, William R. Rodgers and daughter-in-lawwife, Teresa Rodgers; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Masonic Memorial Service was at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23 at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, of Jupiter.

The U.S. Army conducted Military Graveside Services at Riverside Memorial Park following the memorial service.
