General Grant was the son of Martha Jane Banks, daughter of Drucilla Kelly and Lansford "Lance" Banks, and James D. Banks, son of Eliza Jane Cornett and Andrew Jackson Banks.

Henry Banks, born 1785 in Wulkes County, North Carolina, married twice. His first wife was Catherine Pruitt. They hd a daughter named Cassandra "Cass" Banks and she had a son Lansford "Lance" Banks who had a daughter named Marha Jane Banks. Henry's second wife Nancy Christian had a son by the name of Andrew Jackson Banks, who had a son James D. Banks, who was the fathe of General Grant Banks I.

June 05, 1917 Grant completed a Draft Registration Card in Laurel County, Kentucky. His description was Tall, Mdium Build, Gey Eyes and Brown Hair.

He was listed as both single and married and having a son, Grant D. Banks II, who was born July 09, 1923 in Rockcastle, Kentucky who died February 29, 1976 in Seattle, King, Washington.
