Mary Leona Bracewell, 94, of Bedias, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, in Needville. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 1, at the Bedias Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerald Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery. A visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Bedias. Mary Bracewell was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Grimes County, to Robert and Ocie Belle Harman, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Raymond Bracewell, and her brothers, Earnest, Harold and Robert Lee Harman; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Massey. Mary Bracewell was a member of the Bedias Baptist Church, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at the church. She, along with her husband, Raymond, operated for 25 years the Bedias Supply Company Store. She is survived by sons Gene Bracewell, of Bedias, and Jerry Bracewell and wife Pat, of Houston; daughter Linda Massey, of Needville; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Pallbearers were Will, Zach, Ryan, Russell and James Bracewell, and Scotty Adams. Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Bedias is in charge of arrangements.
