Mrs. Edna Jordan Burney, 91, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 1998, in Grapevine. Mrs. Burney was born in Cooper, Louisiana, on December 15, 1906, to James and Bettie Jordan. She graduated from Rosepine High School. Her father purchased a store and campground on the Guadalupe River in Center Point. She met and married Herman Burney in 1928.

Known throughout Kerr County for her love and knowledge of garden plants, native and otherwise Edna shared cuttings from her garden with many people. A loving, caring mother to her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, she was a devoted wife. She cared deeply about her family and the beautiful Hill Country where she lived.

She was an active member of the Garden Club and had received a 50-year pin for her membership in the Home Demonstration Club. She had been a Sunday school teacher and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Center Point.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Herman Burney. Survivors are her daughter, Betty Maroney and husband, Kenneth; their sons, Mark and his wife, Kimberly, Dave and his wife, Joan; daughter, Janis Floyd and her husband, Glen; their daughter, Laurie Jones and her husband, Beau, and Amy Avery and her husband, Scott; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan and Erica Ojeda and Ross Maroney; nephew, Johnny Heard and his wife, Neva; their daughter, Tiffany Johnson and her husband, Jim; and their children, Karissa and Kameron; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 5, 1998, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Center Point. Interment will follow in the Center Point Cemetery.

The family will receive friend's from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 4, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
