Arlis T. Hart 85, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away Tuesday , September 19, 2006 at VITAS Hospice in Ft. Hamilton Hospital.

He was born on March 5, 1921 to Leo and Rosa Hubbs Hart. He was educated in the Corbin Schools, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II .

On October 25, 1943, he married Jessie J. Moore. He was employed at General Motors Fisher Body Plant as an electrician for 32 years, retiring in 1980 . He was the owner and operator of Hart Trailer Hitch for 30 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940-1945. he was on the carrier USS Enterprise when the Japanesse bomb Pearl Harbor. he was in the battle of the Coral Sea, he was transfer to the USS Plymonth which was converted Vanderbuilt Yacht, Arlis was on the Plymonth when it was sunk by a German sub 80 miles off Norfork Virginia.

He was then assigned to the USS Gandy for the duration of the war.

In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Steve Cox, Orville, Willard and Paul Hart.

He is survived by his wife Jessie J. Moore Hart; his children, Terri Hunter & husband Clyde, Gary Hart, Marty Popst and husband Andy, and Scott Hart and wife Gail; grandchildren, Doug Payne, Ora Brown, Brian Hart, Stacy May, Jeff Hart, Summer Hart, Danielle Hart, and Amy Vorhees; Seven great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Elizabeth Rominger and Ida Mae Stamper; brothers Homer, Mickey, Vernon and Walter Hart.

Funeral services will be Sunday , Sept. 24, 2006 at 3pm at the Hart Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Mickey Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery were a complete military service will be conducted by the VFW Post 1410.
