Hickson Prothro Skinner, of Charleston, passed away October 9, 2010.

Born January 22, 1919, in Pregnall, SC, to George Prothro Skinner and Lessie Claire Rumph Skinner.

Mr. Skinner graduated from Georgia Tech and from 1940-1945 was a pilot in the Navy, retiring as a Commander.

While working for the US Department of Health in Columbia he met and married Margaret Ann Carlisle from Columbia. The family spent time in Moultrie, GA while Hickson was a pilot instructor at Hawthorne Aviation before moving to his hometown of Charleston, retiring after 33 years.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his children, Hickson Prothro Skinner, Jr. of Woodruff, SC, John Carlisle Skinner and his wife Burness Hanckel Skinner of Charleston, Ann Skinner Hunter and her husband Richard Scott Hunter of Summerville, Allan Grier Skinner and his wife Terri Ward Skinner of Ravenel, Martha Lane Skinner of Seattle WA; and a sister, Ida Skinner Weathers of Charlotte NC; 10 grandchildren, Dawn Carlisle Skinner Snead, Joy Hanckel Skinner Sheron, Jason Daniel Raul, Holly Hunter VanHoy, John Carlisle Skinner Jr., Julie Hunter Packett, James Allan Skinner; Carrie Alice Hunter, Katie Marie Skinner, Rosanne Skinner Harriot; and two great-grandchildren.

Interment: Magnolia Cemetery.
