OREM -- Ruby Lillian Kynaston Gunnell, 96, passed peacefully from this life in Orem, Utah on March 9, 2004. Ruby was born in Bancroft, Idaho on January 7, 1908, the seventh of 12 children of John Kynaston and Ann Stella Phillips. She married Evan Poppleton Gunnell on October 30, 1923 and they lived in the Soda Springs, Idaho area for most of their married life.

Ruby and Evan retired in LaVerkin, Utah, where Evan died in 1988 and where Ruby continued to live until failing health did not permit her to live alone. She relocated to Orem to be near family and resided in an assisted living home until her death.

She is survived by her eldest son, Clarence E. Gunnell of Hurricane, Utah; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Kynaston of Emmitt, Idaho; and a sister, Ruth Langston of Soda Springs, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan, and two sons, Loran K. and Reid J.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Timpanogos Park LDS 1st Ward Chapel, Orem, Utah. A visitation will be held Monday, March 15, at 10 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. A visitation will also be held Tuesday, March 16, at 10 a.m., at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd. Interment will be beside her sweetheart in St. George City Cemetery, 11 a.m., on March 16, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, (435)-673-4221.
