Mrs. Mary Jane Warner passed away Sunday, November 23 at 6 o’clock a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stella Balch on North Broadway, Shelbyville. The body was removed to the Lantz-Boettcher funeral home. Mary Jane Leathers was born August 6, 1852 in Shelby County, the daughter of John and Ruth Duncan Leathers. She was married to Isaac Warner, who died in 1905. She leaves five children - Andrew of St. John, Washington; Wesley of Westervelt; Mrs. Stella Balch and Charles Warner of Shelbyville; and Mrs. Eva Brown of Stewardson. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Maggie Wheeler of Wichita, Kansas. She was a member of the United Brethren church. Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Union Church near Old Mode. Shelbyville Democrat - 28 Nov 1941
