"Uncle Fred" was a prominent citizen of Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he lived at 1023 West New Street. He was a graduate of Sinking Spring High School, F & M Academy in 1908, Franklin and Marshall College in 1912, and the Reformed Theological Seminary where he received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree in 1916, and his Master of Arts in 1917.

He served as pastor of the Rohrerstown Evangelical and Reformed Church.

He was a respected teacher of Latin and Greek and a school principal in Liverpool, and at Mccaskey High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

He married Leonora Clark Sweigert in 1916. A. Frederick was also known as an extremely capable violin player.

They had one son, John Nevin, who graduated from Franklin and Marshall College, with his bachelors degree and from Pennsylvania State with his masters degree.

John served in the Marine Corps in World War Two, seeing combat in Guadalcanal, being among those first ashore (Company C, First Battalion, First Marines). He later served in the Korean Conflict. He was recogized for his achievements in the two wars, receiving a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts. He retired as a Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve and died too soon in 1976, of a heart attack.
