Henrietta was born March 19, 1910 at Orange City, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Wibben) Houtsma. As a child, her family lived at Ocheyedan and Bijou, Minn., later returning to Orange City.
On Sept. 14, 1928 she married James Jasper at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City. Mr. Jasper died Oct. 20, 1958 at Orange City.
In August of 1992, Mrs. Jasper moved to Sibley, and in June of 1994, she became a resident of the manor.
She was currently a member of the Sibley Christian Reformed Church. Most of her life she had been a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, where she was active in the womens organizations. She also belonged to the Monica Society and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Orange City.
Henrietta was a faithful volunteer at the Heritage House in Orange City and the Long Term Care Facility at the Orange City Hospital.
She was an avid reader, reading to many elderly people who could no longer see clearly. She was also a poet, writing poems for special occasions and family events.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; two grandchildren; three brothers, and four sisters.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 10:30a.m. at the Calvary Christian Reformed church in Orange City. Pastor William Van Hal and Pastor Jack Gray officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
The Van Etten-OolmanVan Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City was in charge of arrangements.
