Mr. Thomas E. Warren, 79, 915 North Elliott street, died this morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Warren was probably the most admired citizen of Olney, in many years. His gentle nature, consideration of others, and his friendly, sensible attitude made everyone who knew him, like him and admire him. While withdrawing in nature, he was consistently progressive for this community and for Newton, where he had been a bank director for many years.

Mr. Warren was a deeply religious man, his life being one of deep convictions and helpfulness.

He was born in Wakefield, Illinois on June 26, 1889, son of the late Peter and Ida Carter Warren.

He attended school at Wakefield, where his late father operated a large store for many years. He then attended Ewing College, at Ewing, which was operated for many years by the Baptist church.

Returning home from college, he became Postmaster in November of 1911 and remained in that position until 1923. He also continued operating the store at Wakefield until 1924, and then sold his interest. In February of 1925 he was named Cashier of the Olney Trust and Banking Company, and remained in that position until 1933, then becoming a State of Illinois Bank Examiner.

He was a very active and faithful member of the First Baptist church of Olney, and served in various church offices. He was a member of the Selective Service Board during World War II, was a member of the Olney Camp No. 383, Modern Woodmen of America, Noble Lodge No. 362, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and the Olney Elks Lodge No. 926.

Until recently, he served for many years as a director of the People's State Bank at Newton, of which his father was President from 1912 until 1932. He had also served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Olney Savings and Loan Association.

Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Evaylon, two daughters, Mrs. Doris Mounts, member of the staff at East Richland High School in Olney, and Mrs. Medford (Ida May) Wilson of Santa Monica, Calif., and a step-son, Thurmond Adams, and his three children, there are also two grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Also a sister of St. Joseph, Mo.

Funeral services for Mr. Warren will be held at 3:80 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of the Schaub Funeral Home with the Reverend Frank Coons officiating. Interment will be in Haven Hill cemetery.
