Doris I. Thompson, 85, of 110 E. Everett St., Falconer, passed away Thursday (Sept.16, 2010), in her daughter's home.
She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Warren, Pa., the daughter of the late Harry A. and Ellen A. Anderson Johnson Sr.
Doris was a graduate of Warren High School, and in earlier years had worked at American Manufacturing and Grants Department Store. She had also owned and operated the Falconer Drive-In along with her husband, Magnus S. Thompson.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Falcon-er, the American Legion Auxiliary, and she had also served as a foster parent for many years. Doris enjoyed knitting and playing bingo.
Surviving are two daughters: Ellen A. (Jeffrey) Bush of Falconer, and Shirley Finch of Randolph; a son, Clarence Thompson of Cattaraugus; 13 grandchildren, her caregiver, Michelle Newman, Bill Bush, Laura Gassman, Earle Parmenter Jr., Kirk Parmenter, Jody Lauritson, Debbie Parmenter, Robert Finch, Richard Finch, Russell Finch, Victoria Smith, Virginia Miller and Kali Thompson; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Magnus S. Thompson, whom she married April 22, 1944, and who passed away Sept. 17, 1968; an infant son, William Thompson; a daughter, Johanna Parmenter; a sister, Laura Jane Ristau; and three brothers: Robert Johnson, Chester Johnson and Harry Johnson Jr.
