Served as a Private in Comp K, 28th Regt, Georgia Infantry, Army of Northern VA with his brothers, Wiley and Daniel. Daniel was killed outside of Richmond in 1864. He's buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. Wiley survived the war. John was with his brother Daniel when he was killed. John met Louisa Victoria when he stopped by her house in Eldora, GA, looking for something to eat while on his way home from the war.
