Mrs. Sarah A. Elam died at five o'clock Monday evening at the county farm. - Mrs. Elam's maiden name was Sarah Ann Turner. She was born in Tennessee, Mar. 7, 1850. At the time of her death she was 78y 8m 12ds of age. She was married to John Daniels in 1871. Two daughters were born to this union, Alice, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Martha E. Reed of Shelbyville. In 1878 she was married to Wm. Elam. Two children were born to them; Mary, who died at the age of 18 years and Joel Thomas Elam of Decatur. Besides her children, she leaves a sister, Martha Easley; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two step-sons, John Elam of Stewardson and Matt Elam of Ramsey, and other relatives and friends. No tombstone has been located. Recorded records of county home deaths stated that Sarah A. Elam was taken to Big Spring Cemetery for burial.
