Mr. Charleston dies at Decatur

Eugene Clinton Charleston, 87, of 310 Washington St., Geneva, a retired farmer, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Decatur Community Care Center. He had been in ill health 10 weeks.

The Geneva resident was a member of the Mt. Carmel E.U.B. Church.

Born in Jefferson township on Oct. 3, 1886, he was the son of Homer and Mary Ether Ketchum-Charleston, and was married on Oct. 25, 1913, to Iva M. Irwin, who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Therman E. of route 4, Van Wert, O.; Mrs. Donna Sipe of Berne, and Mrs. Kenneth (Nola) Ellenberger, Bluffton; one brother, William of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Downing funeral home, with Rev. Ray Bachman officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon Sunday.
