Martin was a Butcher by trade and had a couple of stores before the Great Depression. He lost everything during this time and for the rest of his life he did odd jobs. Janitorial and bar tended. But even though they had hard times they always opened there home to relatives who as well needed help. Bertha cooked for many in her day. The first and only home they owned was the Florida home.
