On June 24, 1962 in Denver, Colorado he married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Marvella Andrews. She preceded him in death in 2001, having died of Ovarian Cancer.
Jerry held many different jobs, always doing whatever it took to provide for his family. While living in Denver in the late 60's & early 70's he worked with several different music groups, doing concert promotions and such. One of the biggest was The Oak Ridge Boys.
After moving he and his family to Kentucky in 1972, he started a custodian business, landing a good sized deal cleaning all the Eddie Adams "Cut & Curl" beauty salons in the Greater Louisville area. He sold that business and moved to Lexington where he managed the local Volk Tile store. Then moved back to Louisville, then to Elizabethtown, then to Radcliff and eventually on to Oxford Ohio, then to Olney Il., then back to Cincinnati. He moved around a lot.
He is survived by four sons, Gerald Gowins Jr., Michael Gowins, Timothy Gowins and Andrew Gowins. A daughter, Sonja Warndorf, a sister, Naomi Rector, and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marvella, his parents; three brothers, Robert, Paul, and Arnold Gowins; and two sisters, Ruth Kreider and Esther Haney.
Funeral service were held at the Montgomery Assembly of God, Montgomery, Ohio with Associate Pastor Courtnell Francois officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
